Our free All On Board club promotes an accessible and welcoming environment for people with additional needs to meet new people, try something different and keep active via watersports and outdoor activities.

The All On Board club offers a programme of beginner friendly, safe and supervised water sports and outdoor activities for people with additional needs. This can include people with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and mental health issues.

We offer two programmes:

After school club

Weekly after school club which runs on Thursday evenings (4.30 - 7pm) for people with additional needs.

Booked group sessions

On request, we work with local schools, colleges and additional needs centres to offer a six week program for people with additional needs to try a variety of activities.

Water based activities you can try include:

  • kayaking
  • canoeing
  • narrowboating
  • powerboating

Other outdoor activities you can  try include:

  • ice-skating
  • swimming
  • rock climbing
  • bowling
  • mountain biking

Beginners are welcome and no prior experience is needed. Friendly staff are on hand to teach and answer any questions.                                                                                


The All On Board Club after-school club is not a drop-in session so please contact the Islington Boat Club if you’re interested in bringing somebody along. Email [email protected]. You will need to register.

Facilities and access

  • People with additional needs have a variety of accessible equipment to try, dedicated staff assistance to get in and out of the equipment and staff instructors on hand at all times.
  • Access is across flat ground with no steps or ramps. The pontoons are flat and stable.
  • We have a disabled toilet, but no lifting facilities.

What to bring

A full change of clothes (appropriate for the weather) including soft-soled shoes and a towel. We will provide everything else including buoyancy aids.

Full shower and changing facilities are available. A full change of clothing including shoes is required for those heading onto the water.
