Upperdeckers reviews and testimonials

"This is an activity that is enjoyable, sociable, stretches us - to our limits sometimes, keeps us healthy, keeps us learning, builds our confidence and is a place to make new friends. We have excellent teachers who challenge us - but not to a level beyond individual capability - and who are both kind and encouraging. It is a pleasure to attend. For all these reasons, and probably several more I haven’t thought of yet, please keep funding this project - it is very worthwhile."

"A few thoughts,

Something to look forward to, an outdoor activity.

Very central and close to public transport.

Builds confidence ..... and can be challenging at the same time.

Very sociable with tea and biscuits.

Wide array of boating activities from fairly sedentary to quite demanding.

Improves coordination and strength.

Opens the waterway up to local residents, many of whom have barely seen or walked along the canal.

Many would be very disappointed should it close. Often one sees elderly ladies joining activities but in this case there are several men to whom it is very important that an activity reaches out to them."

"Thank you very much to everyone concerned for all your help and assistance organising the boat trips for our clients yesterday. Both trips were enjoyed by all and the event proved a great success. We would be very grateful if you would please convey our thanks to your team at the Islington Boat Club, to John our skipper and Sue (Upperdecker volunteer) who looked after us on the boat."
