ISLINGTON BOAT CLUB

WATERSPORTS FUN

Islington Boat Club (IBC) is a registered charity and inclusive community watersports centre based on the Regent’s Canal in the heart of Islington. Established in 1970, we have over 50 years of experience providing high-quality, accessible activities that promote health, wellbeing, and personal development—particularly for young people and underserved communities.

We offer a wide range of water- and land-based activities including kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, sailing, bellboating, narrowboating, and RYA-accredited courses. As the only watersports provider in the borough, we offer a truly unique opportunity for local residents to experience the physical and mental health benefits of being on the water.

Our mission is to create a safe, welcoming space where individuals of all backgrounds can develop confidence, skills, and a strong sense of belonging. We prioritise affordability through heavily subsidised sessions, free community events, and targeted outreach to low-income families, schools, youth groups, and refugee organisations.

Supported by a dedicated team of qualified instructors, volunteers, and trustees, Islington Boat Club is more than a sports centre—it’s a vibrant hub for community connection, personal growth, and long-term youth development.
